5 THINGS YOU MUST DO AT THE BEGINNING OF EVERY MONTH

The beginning of a new month signals a fresh start and for someone like me, I believe it is another opportunity to get it right. Wipe the slate clean and start again. It is the perfect time for recommitting to goals that were set at the beginning of the year. I love new beginnings and I hope you do it. Here are 5 Things I Do At the Beginning of Every Month

REVIEW THE PAST MONTH

The 1st thing I do every month is review the month that has passed, to see the highlights and moments I feel need improving. Was I late to events? How do I become more time conscious? What were the struggles I faced in the month? What lessons have I learned and most importantly how do I intend to move forward because we cannot keep dwelling on the past?

CREATE A BUDGET FOR THE NEW MONTH

I am guilty of sometimes going over my budget during the month and the beginning of a new month is time to check the receipts (hides face), review the accounts, and set a budget that I INTEND to follow this time. The budget includes what will be spent on food, clothing, events, bills, staff salaries, transportations, enjoyment (this is important), and miscellaneous. I notice a bulk of our monthly budget goes to food…is it the same for you?

PLAN YOUR ACTIVITIES AND YOUR MEALS

The perfect time to schedule your activities for the month is the beginning. You can use a physical calendar or digital. What is most important is that you keep track of how you spend every hour of every day and make sure your time is maximized. I make sure to mark important dates like Birthdays of friends and family, PTA meetings, special holidays, Brand work (for SISIYEMMIE), medical checkups (if any), Birthday Parties (we get invited to loads of birthday parties lately and it helps to include it in our monthly budget so we can buy presents for our hosts) A big part of Planning is planning our meals for the month. I no longer spend time cracking my head on what to cook since I got my 6 Month Nigerian Food Timetable (I can switch things up and love it!). If you don’t have a copy, you need to download it HERE (so worth it!

DECLUTTER AND DEEP CLEAN As mentioned earlier, the beginning of a new month is time for a fresh start, and what better way to start the month than with a clean home/space. I take time out to deep clean once a month (sometimes I hire help or I do it myself). Once I deep clean AND DECLUTTER (Important…let things go!) I feel free, some lightness in my steps even and space in my head to think. Managing the home for the rest of the month is easier after that. I have tips on how I keep my home clean, watch it HERE

SET ONE IMPORTANT GOAL FOR THE MONTH

There are so many tasks you can set for the month but something I started doing lately is to set 1 big task to complete. That is all. That BIG task is important and will keep me grounded for the rest of the month. I intend to tell you that I have accomplished it at the beginning of next month. Wish me luck!

Have a great Month Ahead!
