Windows 10 users will be able to upgrade to Windows 11 free of cost

Windows 11 is now officially confirmed by Microsoft and will be available as a free upgrade for all Windows 10 customers. An option to upgrade to Windows 11 shows that the PC used meets all the system requirements for Windows 11 and free. The window adds that the system will let the user know when it is ready to install the new version.

Windows 11 will be a free upgrade

There was some uncertainty over whether Windows 11 will require a separate purchase, but not anymore. Considering that Microsoft had announced that Windows 10 would be the last major release, it is sensible that Windows 11 is available as a free upgrade.

It is not yet clear when the version is officially open for installation, even though many have already installed Windows 11 using the leaked ISO file. During the live event, the company showcased several Windows 11 features.

Microsoft will be releasing a Windows 11 test build to Insiders next week and OEM PCs with Windows 11 pre-installed will be available before the year-end. Microsoft will be shipping Windows 10 21H2 and Windows 11 this fall.

“We’ve simplified the design and user experience to empower your productivity and inspire your creativity. It’s modern, fresh, clean and beautiful,” said Panos Panay, Chief Product Officer, Windows + Devices.

This free upgrade of Windows 11 will bring a revamped User Interface to your Windows PC. The design is quite similar to the Windows 10X project, which Microsoft dropped halfway. However, the team has worked on details a lot. The latest version has opted for a launcher design that both Chrome OS and macOS heavily inspire.

In addition to these, Live Tiles have been removed from the list of features. Instead, the developers have added excellent features like snap layouts, enhanced support for additional monitors, and improved performance. Snap Layout, Snap Groups brings next-level Task Switching to Windows 11!

Microsoft has rebuilt the Microsoft Store ground up in Windows 11 – and moreover, Android apps are coming to Microsoft Store!

Microsoft says that updates have now become 40% smaller, which is a relief for many. The developer has a great job of integrating Microsoft Teams, Xbox Game Pass, and Tablet Mode. We are expecting more useful features since the live event is ongoing.

TIP: Check if your PC can run Windows 11.
